The Brief:

Commercialise innovative, secure Edtech platform and operating system previously trialled in 3 UK prisons.

Activities:

• Build long term financial, operating and commercialisation plan

• Raise significant grant funding (including Innovate UK) for extended pilot and tech development

• Build partnerships with multiple stakeholders including MoJ, HMPPS, individual prisons, educational providers and charities

• Work with development team to improve platform design, content and user interface

• Secure first full value commercial sales

• Roll system out across 50 prisons in the UK prison estate including extensive work inside prisons

Results:

Coracle contracts directly with HMPPS and is used in over 50 prisons across the United Kingdom. It is HMPSS Information Assured and allows prisoners access to laptops unsupervised in-cell. The system is changing prisoners’ lives and supports the government’s digital strategy to improve rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.
